Fernando Mendoza

Fernando Mendoza. As more and more NFL teams lose their playoff hopes week by week, the NFL Draft buzz is only going to get higher and higher; and along with it, this man. The 22 year old gunslinger for Indiana is everything an NFL coach could ask for; great build at 6’5” and 225 lbs, solid athleticism, great pocket awareness/mobility, and the kind of arm talent that takes a coach from the hot seat to the playoffs. So, here’s everything you need to know about him, so you can sound smart when debating this with your friends.

The junior at Indiana University is set to declare for the NFL draft, and is likely going to warrant a bottom-of-the-barrel team to trade up to the #1 overall pick to draft him. He has a great build as mentioned before, and solid speed that, while he doesn’t run often, is showcased when he does. He’s got a very good arm, with better accuracy than many of the “blue chip” QB prospects from recent memory. He limits turnovers and makes good reads, and doesn’t often make avoidable mistakes. He thrives working the middle of the field, and has been one of the best quarterbacks between the hashes in recent memory. He’s also been one of the best quarterbacks throwing deep this season, and can easily stretch the field. When he sees a receiver breaking open over the top, he seldom hesitates and has hit posts this season like no one’s business. He’s a very safe pick, and is going to be a weapon for a lucky NFL franchise for years to come. With draft season approaching, he’s going to generate lots of hype, so hopefully that quickly gets you up to speed on the future #1 pick.
